EFFEARTE Gallery presents Spring, the solo show of Steven Aalders until 14 th May.

For this Italian solo show the Dutch artist Steven Aalders presents two great collections featuring on his recent artistic production. Steven Aalders has always conducted pure pictorial research based on the simple use of colour – his favourite linguistic matter, especially oil paints – and extensive studies on the history of modern and contemporary painting.

Each abstract work is built up from a precise, minimalist geometric grid, a modernist inheritance derived directly from Piet Mondrian's theoretical principles, applying dynamic rhythms and compositions in thick, wide coloured bands that are impressed like micro-reliefs on monochromatic linen cloth. A sort of conceptual exercise on the part of Aalders involving the painting and the history it analyzes each time. A silent attitude, where intense concentrations lead to chromatic modulations that the artist creates through an extraordinary mix of colours that he always creates using natural pigments,disdaining industrial paints, and always giving light the lead role
