Malìparmi returns with an event for the Fuori Salone (literally, “Outside the Fair”) 2010, further proof of the close bond linking art and design. The
This creation, called Voyeur Lamp, contains a miniature reproduction of a Malìparmi home/shop, where the product is set in a context offering perfect harmony between the brand’s materials and its values of creativity and craft skills. A micro-environment recreates the original idea of the store concept that the architect Hajime Miyajima developed for the brand, an inspirational springboard for its transformation into the real single brand stores.
A mini-unit in painted, hand-finished iron contains a series of interchangeable panels lined with coloured fabric or in reclaimed wood. The mini-accessories from the Malìparmi collection are displayed on leather and suede shelves alongside the furnishings, including an iron and fabric lamp created for the brand by Antonino Sciortino.
It’s a play of voids and filled spaces, harmonies and contrast, harmony and discord, textures and natural materials, a “mix & match” of visual and tactile inputs, balanced by a three-dimensional patchwork designed to express the Malìparmi brand.
With philosophical irony, Ari Marcus Koskinen’s Voyeur lamp is suspended at the interface between two worlds – the macro-space of the spectators and the micro-world that narrates Malìparmi’s soul, its product.
