From April 13th to 18th IED will be one of the main characters of Elita Milano - Next Attitude, the fifth edition of the Design Week Music and Arts Festival organized by the cultural association Elita with the aim of promoting the networking at cultural level, especially in the music and new media fields.

As sharing with Elita the interest for all multimedia communication types, especially with reference to the electronic and avant-garde music, IED will be the Main Contents Partner and promoter of different initiatives open to the public, such as conferences, speeches, live performances, and dynamic installations, that will also involve the students of IED Arti Visive School.

Italian Laptop Orchestra
The Italian Laptop Orchestra is a workshop organized by IED Arti Visive that will be held from April 13th to 16th at Franco Parenti Theatre. The event is addressed to a selected number of students attending the Sound Design course coordinated by Painé Cuadrelli, but it is also open to the public.

Thanks to an innovative approach and to the arrangements assigned to Roberto Vernetti, the students will be asked to develop a complex multi-hands performance where each performer will have to develop a specific part. It is a real digital reassessment of the typical schema of an orchestra having an instrumental section that will have to reinterpret and perform live some contemporary Italian songs.

Performers will be directed in a live performance by the conductor Fabio Gurian while the songs will be sung by Alessio Bertallot on Saturday April, 17th from 8.00 p.m. on the occasion of a special night dedicated to the New Italian Renaissance.

Design Fiction
Studiolabo, creator of the Fuorisalone.it portal, and IED will develop a video production project that will involve 16 students attending the Video Design Course – IED Arti Visive Milan coordinated by the director Francesco Fei.

With the aim of promoting design as an event, a performance and an installation in the urban area and of letting it accessible to everyone, the Design Fiction project includes the realization of three interactive fictions in 6 episodes set at Fuorisalone.

Videos will be filmed by two teams of students from April 12th to 16th in the Fuorisalone area. They will be elaborated and edited by another team of students in a laboratory specifically organized at Franco Parenti Theatre and they will be daily broadcast on “Design Fiction”, the section dedicated to the project on Fuorisalone.it portal, allowing the public to enjoy such contributions and to interact with them. As a matter of fact, users can vote different possible developments of the stories thus affecting the tale and its sequel by proposing their ideas for the script. At the end of the project, all videos will be edited to create a complete short.

Expolab: creativity on the table
The exposition Expolab will be presented during the annual meeting entitled "Uovo à la coque" (Soft-boiled egg) promoted by Uovo Performing arts festival. It will deal with the creativity on the table, a project promoted by the Lombardy Region in collaboration with ERSAF and IED Research Centre.

The Expolab project was conceived to promote and show the typical Lombard products. Five groups of students coming from the four IED Schools in Milan, led by four journalists and supported by three professional tutors, joined and integrated their skills and professionalism from January 18th to 22nd to conceive a concept of Lombard eating-and-drinking products, services and communication plans.

The project outputs and the entire workshop experience will be presented to the public during the Expolab exhibition that will take place at Franco Parenti Theatre on April 18th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The final event, entitled “A Fringe Day Out”, will be organized by Elita in collaboration with IED always at Franco Parenti Theatre, on Sunday April 18th (end date of the Design Week Music and Arts Festival), from 10 am to 1.00 am.
