The exhibition of this piece at Post Design during the Furniture Fair does not mean that it is about furniture or design.

“Modello n°14” is an installation which I have been working on recently and which is presented on this occasion in the PostDesign Gallery, a place that has remained dear to me after all these years.

A long time ago I used to be a designer and I worked with Memphis, then I became a painter mostly of everyday objects. During the last 10 years I have started constructing things to use as models for my still life paintings. These constructions have become more and more complex and now exist separately from the paintings. Even if it is a three dimensional type of work it is very different from a design project. It is about abstract shapes and their relationship with each other, but the process of composition only happens with a formal goal. I prepare a series of modules and pieces of wood which I move around until I find a satisfactory composition. Usually these are not very big pieces.

The sculpture I present here is part of a group of other “cabins” that I have constructed over the last few years. The first ones were small rooms containing pieces of work; this one is no longer a container but a “complex monolith”.
