100 meters of bench for digital live performances and experimental music

Designs by Marti Guixé, Mauro Lipparini, Ministry of Design, UdA, Carlos Zapata

Inside Art, the design laboratory launched in 2006 by Saporiti Italia dedicated to the research of desing pieces for large artistic and architectural spaces, returns to the spectacular Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation.

In order to be exhibited properly, art objects - paintings, sculptures, installations - need large architectural spaces, but they also need objects of design to be enjoyed and admired.

For this reason, each year during the Salone del Mobile week in Milan, Saporiti Italia requests a selction of international architects and designers to create new objects for "fobserving art" and " being observed" inside places dedicated to art and architecture.

This year, during the design week in Milan, the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation will also host the NODE 2010 Electronic Music Festival which will transform the Foundation's spaces into an unusual stage for sound experimentations.

For this reason, Saporiti Italia has requested five important international designers to create a bench/installation that can also interact with the NODE 2010 concerts.

Thus, Marti Guixé (Barcelona), Mauro Lipparini (Florence), Ministry of Design (Singapore), UdA (Turin) and Carlos Zapata (New York), together will create one single large bench divided into five different segments along the entire Pomodoro Foundation central gallery, a total surface area of over 100 meters. Each designer's work will be linked to the next by a junction that will allow visitors to cross the extremely long installation and, at the same time, will allow each object and designer to be identified.

Inside Art 2010 will be presented between 14th and 18th of April, 2010, from 12:00h to 21:00h at the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation.

The NODE 2010 concerts will take place on April 15, 16 and 17, starting from 22:00h.

SAPORITI ITALIA - Design Award “the Luxury Towers”

“All The World’s A Stage” - Ministry of Design

Saporiti Italia will present All the World's a Stage, the winning project of the first Saporiti Italia Design Award, promoted during the last edition of the Singapore Design Festival 09,

and dedicated to "luxury towers", or, in other words, pieces of furniture conceived to hold, exhibit, protect and use “luxury items”,

Ministry of Design, with a poetic and intriguing design, transforms the concept of luxury from object (or space) to memory (or time). Reference to Shakespeare's poem, "All the world's a stage", allows the Singapore designers to define life as "the greatest luxury" and to catalog and collect precious items from memory according to the six stages of life indicated by the British poet: infant, school-boy, lover, soldier, judge, pantaloon. Each stage is associated with a different material, which allows the construction of a modular "tower" made of varying and sophisticated technologies. The result is an elegant object, full of philosophical influences and open to further interesting experimentation.
