BLU, at the Fuori Salone 2010
Barovier&Toso creates a fantastic “BLUE” world together with Paola Navone
lue is the leitmotif that will accompany visitors to the ample spaces that Barovier&Toso will fit out at the Temporary Museum For New Design (SuperstudioPiù, via Tortona 27, Milan) on the occasion of the Fuori Salone exhibition from 13th to 19th April 2010.
Paola Navone will interpret Barovier&Toso glass with a scenographic installation in a large dark area, lit by magical creations and custom-built lamps, all created in blue tones: blue, Dutch blue, cobalt blue and aquamarine.
The installation will be organised in islands designed to provide visitors with a moment of relaxation and emotion: large, comfortable sofas* will allow them to take a break to contemplate elements of great scenographic impact as though they were sculptures. A luminous meadow created using macroscopic glass threads lit by LEDs will signal the route, while the walls, scenery and flooring will be created using poor materials from Murano: coarse wood and rusty iron. Interspersed between the scenery will be copies of the small bedside lamp designed in 1927 by Ercole Barovier for his son Angelo, of which just one copy was produced at the time. It has been created for this occasion in a special limited series in Klein blue. The original is kept at the Barovier&Toso Museum in Murano.
At the entrance there will be a summary of the company’s long history: a blow-up of the Barovier family tree, the members of which, with continuity and through direct descent, have upheld a commitment to acting as constant protagonists in the world of Murano glass.
