At the next Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, Tappeti Contemporanei will present Puralanavergine, a new collection of carpets by Nunzia Paola Carallo, at its exhibit space in via San Carpoforo.
The project Puralanavergine starts from a simple idea: to create a collection of woollen carpets dedicated to the wool brand par excellence, Woolmark. The logo of the brand becomes the main graphic element thanks to the composition and the deconstruction of curves, thus establishing a new appreciative dimension of the logo.
The accuracy in the production of carded, tied by hand wool carpets, a distinctive trait of the Tappeti Contemporanei brand since the beginning, reaches its zenith in Nunzia Paola Carallo’s new collection.
The project Puralanavergine pays homage to the intuition of Francesco Saroglia, the creator of Woolmark graphic logo, who worked on the phenomena of perception in the arts, together with other famous artists such as Munari and Vasarely.
The optico-dynamical research in Kinetik and Programmed art during the Sixties is well synthesized by the graphic logo of the Woolmark brand: a stylized ball resembling Moebius’ ring, a three-dimensional object which is impossible to produce since its start and the end seem to fit together, but actually they don’t. It is definitively recognised as a successful logo, used throughout the whole world, and belongs to the collective imagination of the general public.
The project Puralanavergine also pays tribute to one of the richest natural materials: wool. Wool is 100% natural, biodegradable, renewable and sustainable. A sheep, sunlight, grass and water is all you need to produce wool! Wool fibre is extremely resistant and durable. A carpet made of wool is one which will last.
We give our thanks to Australian Wool Innovation for having authorized the use of the Woolmark brand and the graphic elaboration of its logo in Nunzia Paola Carallo’s new collection of carpets.
