Aaron Ruell is not only a photographer but also a filmmaker, a commercial director and an actor. 

He played Kip in Napoleon Dynamite, which won "Best Movie" at the MTV Movie Awards, and was also an award winner at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival and at the Teen Choice Awards . He also directed the title sequence of the film. Recently he acted in the film, On The Road with Judas, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007.

As a commercial director he has a brilliant career - SHOOT magazine had recently declared him one of the most promising new directors in the world of advertising and Creativity has written that he is one of the emerging artists to know now. 

Moreover, in 2005 he was the only filmmaker to have two short films selected at Sundance, Everthing's Gone Green and Mary, which he wrote and directed.

MiCamera presents the first European exhibition of Aaron Ruell’s photographic work.

Shortly after the publication of his first monography with publisher Nazraeli Press, the gallery based in Milan presents Some Photos. On exhibit, thirty images realized by the “emerging” American talent.

Looking at Ruell’s photographs, the first evident characteristic is irony. If they were not so deliciously quirky, their startlingly good presentation would look completely at home in the most upmarket of interior magazines.

His wickedly precise attention to detail, his eye for color – whether matching or coordinated – and his deadpan sense of humor shine out of every shot. Running through this motley but wonderfully sequenced collection of images is compulsive, as is flipping back a page or two (in the Nazraeli book), just to make sure that your eyes weren’t deceiving you (they weren’t).

In 2007 he was also named PDN Photo Annual Winner in two categories, Website and Advertising.

Aaron Ruell was born in 1976 in California, where he lives and works.
