Wallpaper à la carte:
Jannelli&Volpi shows the latest in the wallpaper world.
Jannelli&Volpi opens the doors of the historical seat in Via Melzo, 7 for the third consecutive annual exhibition called “Wallpaper à la carte”, which shows the latest trends in wallpaper design and furniture fabrics. The event is a tribute to the five senses: the décor is a real pleasure to the eye and delights the palate, touch, smell and even hearing, thanks to particular combinations.
Wallpaper is the focus of the exhibition which marks the return of colour, three-dimensional effects and matter. “At the present moment”, Paola Jannelli says, “there is a will to freely express all facets of personality, and not just conceptually. So decorative and pictorial design triumph over minimal design. This will is felt in many forms of expression, such as furniture, design and fashion, where the return to décor is clearly visible”.
The tendency to highlight the mark is clearly visibile in the wallpaper by Iris Maschek, a designer from Cologne whose characteristic trait is almost inscribed on the wall. The wallpaper by Iris Maschek is presented for the first time in Italy by Jannelli&Volpi. Wallpaper à la carte is a showcase for talented artists from all over the world. Beside Iris Maschek, we find the Dutch Soonsalon, who like amazing people through strong optical effects, the Italian Fab3, who uses WOND to create a forest in the city. Finally, Lorenzo Camocardi is the author of the short films which recreate the sounds and frantic lifestyle of the city within the peaceful environment of Wallpaper à la carte and Laura Zeni who created a book full of poetry meant to gather the feelings of visitors.
Among all products, the transparent resin called Rapoxy is the latest of the season. The new resin created in cooperation with Markus Benesch marks a revolution in the field of furniture and design, since it enables to wallpaper unusual surfaces such as floors; actually, it serves as a protective layer on the paper, as a liquid glass with matt or gloss effects. The wide range of wallpapers allows a large number of solutions, which create a new decorative dimension in the field of flooring.
Food is a must in this event, which is a tribute to the senses. Food becomes a decorative element. Food and décor are ideally combined in Obento, the limited edition food box created ad hoc by Paolo Franchi, the Chef working at “Il Castello”, and covered with the wallpapers from the 2008 collection. Obento will be handed out during the Happy Hour.
